Brian Fitzpatrick

Dr. Brian Fitzpatrick

Senior Research Scientist

Dr. Brian Fitzpatrick is a Senior Research Scientist at Gibson. He is an expert in survey design, data management, and analytics. He currently directs Gibson’s statewide survey project for the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board and a long-term project providing quantitative research support to the Rochester City School District. He has been the lead quantitative scientist on numerous projects, including a districtwide program inventory and evaluation for Fulton County Schools; this work was awarded 1st Place for Program Evaluation (AERA Division H, 2025). He also authored multiple articles in top peer-reviewed education research journals (e.g., Educational Researcher and the American Educational Research Journal) on education policy and inequality. He is also a certified reviewer for the Institute of Education Sciences’ What Works Clearinghouse (WWC), holding certifications in Group Design Standards Version 5.0. Prior to joining Gibson, Dr. Fitzpatrick was an 8th grade math teacher and went on to earn his PhD in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame.
